Sweetwater Union High School District's schools enrolled 35,372 students in the 2022-23 school year, 1.8% less than the previous year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.9% of them were boys, and 48.1% were girls.

Sweetwater Union High School District covers 28 schools within San Diego County with its main office in Chula Vista.

Among the 28 schools in Sweetwater Union High School District, Eastlake High School recorded the highest enrollment of 2,783 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and the Public Policy Institute of California expects it to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
